Celebrating Our Alumni

When you lock your excuses, you unlock your limitlessness.” ― Hiral Nagda, Lifestyle Coach

Not Another Cheesy Quote

Who has time for cheesy motivational quotes like this anymore?

Well, if the words help our youth live without excuses, unlock their full potential and confidently own their futures, we’re here for it!

In 2015, after a grueling application process, 21 grade 8 learners were chosen to participate in our inaugural Bokgoni Empowerment Programme (BEP).  From meeting with the Honorable Kgosi Leruo Molotlegi (King of the Royal Bafokeng Nation), to touring Johannesburg’s Constitution Hill, to participating in a career symposium with industry leaders, and meeting with two Platinum Stars’ players, the BEP Ambassadors (program participants) spent 3.5 years discovering about themselves through these and other curated activities.

We aim to help our Ambassadors develop the social and emotional skills needed to pursue their dreams and goals.

In fact, 86% of the Ambassadors stayed in our pilot programme for the entire 3.5 year duration!

Additionally, 50% of our alumni from BEP are now enrolled in tertiary education!

Talk about unlocking potential - WOW!

We certainly want to paint a pretty picture of BEP because it’s our baby!

We birthed it and nurtured it from the start. So, how can you be sure the programme is actually all it’s cracked up to be?

Join us on July 28, 2022, at the Future Africa Campus at the University of Pretoria from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm for I Am Here: UnlockedPotential, a night where BEP alumni will share where they are now in life!  We will also share our Impact Report.

Get the inside scoop as the alumni recount how your continued IAWA support helped them navigate the twists and turns of life, revealing a future filled with hope and unlocking the limitless potential in us all.

Now, how’s that for a cheesy motivational quote?  Yeah, we’ll be over here brushing off our shoulders.  [cue Dirt Off Your Shoulder by Jay-Z]
