Morafe Ambassadors Look Back On The Programme

Last year we launched a new program, the Morafe Leadership Development Programme, and welcomed a new cohort of Ambassadors. From both the United States, Prince George’s County, Maryland and Royal Bafokeng Nation, North West Province, South Africa. This was the first time where we had students from both countries in the program not just in parallel but together. It was certainly a new learning curve having to run a fully virtual program and training of the Youth Facilitators and we added to the community while learning new things in spite of and because of the pandemic.

We reached out to Ambassadors of the new program in South Africa to get their thoughts on the Morafe program and their experience.  The following is commentary by Ambassador Sibongile about her experiences…

“The Morafe Leadership Programme had a huge impact in our lives. It has shown great leadership skills by coordinating our team, Incorporating suggestions from others and delegating work tasks i n our tribes.

It has shown incredible leadership skills and I loved being part of it and developed some skills. Morafe aided in making everyone understand where our priorities should be going forward. We certainly hope to see more great initiatives from you in future. Everyone had the opportunity to express their ideas, Morafe's constant enthusiastic presence breathed life into this. I learned a lot  from the Youth Facilitators and fellow ambassadors.  I appreciate the efforts taken by Morafe in bettering our lives. I hope you might consider taking the next step by leading the next big program in our area again. It was an exciting experience. Big ups to the Morafe Leadershipship Team. We had a great time working with you guys.

I encourage  more people to learn about the good work of I Am We Are and support them so that this round of cohorts can successfully finish the program.” IAWA Ambassador Sibongile

Another Ambassador from the Morafe program wrote a poem to express how they felt about the program:

“I AM BECAUSE OF WHO WE ARE.

There is a lesson which life teaches us.

That despite every fact of any emotion people come into your life

To change it

And make it more beautiful

And to become the blessing of your life and other ones

Who tends to do nothing with you. They become the lesson of your life.

Life is a game of different times

With different people, try to find some

Good constants so you can live

In prosperity and peace.

I wanted to say thank you guys for giving me a chance to prove to you that I can make it.

And thank you again for letting us show the world who we are today.

Now we are the young leaders of tomorrow.

And sister Meisha I wish God can provide more and more for you.

     I AM WE ARE”

You can see a performance of this poem by Semane Rantshabo herself here.

We are honored and cannot wait to see where this journey with this Morafe cohort takes us and excited to return back to physical programming for the year 2022.

Be sure to share and leave a comment for our bright young stars.
