Morafe Leadership Development Program
Morafe is an inaugural program we are launching in response to COVID-19 restrictions and how these changes impact our traditional 4-year program. Morafe will be a virtual, abbreviated version of our core curriculum serving 10th graders in South Africa and the United States of America for a unique, cross-cultural, immersive, virtual learning experience. The program will take place over a 6-month period, during which youth will meet two Saturdays a month for two hour sessions, youth will participate in 3 wellbeing workshops, parents will be invited to participate in a parent workshop, and youth will have one-on-one wellbeing advising throughout the program.
Personal enrichment, professional skills building, and character development workshops all help to prepare youth to be global leaders. To assist with this learning, we will be bringing on 3rd and 4th year university students in relevant programs to moderate sessions. These students will be part of a fellowship program centered around Morafe, and they will be paid for their work and receive training during the experience.
This year’s participants will be invited to join us next year for a leadership program that will allow them to create programming for their community. Participants that complete both phases of the program will be invited to participate in an international trip that will bring all of the participants together to meet in person.
